Bestiary
Creatures from my worlds and from my clients', each documented like a specimen: how it lives, hunts and survives.
Bestiary production
Creature reference documents for TTRPG publishers and game studios.
A bestiary is more than a set of creature drawings: every entry has to feel like it belongs to the same world. I build entries as production documents, on one consistent page system, so ten creatures read like they came out of the same book.
Each one follows the logic of a naturalist plate: readability before effect, anatomy that holds up, annotation that informs rather than decorates. An entry should stay usable at the table, not just be good to look at.
What's in an entry
- Full-body reference view, neutral but alive
- Two detail views: the head and one distinctive anatomical feature
- Flat silhouette with human scale comparison
- Scale figures: height, wingspan, estimated mass
- Color palette, five to seven named swatches
- Two to four anatomical callouts, one line each
- Written description: habitat, behavior, what makes it dangerous, how you recognize it
How it runs
1. Brief. You tell me about the world, the tone, and what these creatures are for.2. Style plate. I set up the page system and the visual language. You approve it, or we stop here and you keep the plate.
3. Production. Entries delivered in batches, two revision rounds each, at the stage we're in.
4. Delivery. Final files, with the license transferring on final payment.
What I'm at home with
Beasts and monsters, megafauna, aberrations, undead and corrupted anatomy, biomech and organic-mechanical hybrids, armored creatures, things that hunt. Dark fantasy and grounded weird.Quoted separately: key art and narrative scenes, book layout and typesetting.
Not my strength: cartoon, chibi or anime-styled creatures, clean industrial mecha.
